Yarn package for the Marseille Sweater by PetiteKnit.

The maritime classic reinterpreted.

The Marseille Sweater will instantly make you dream of small fishing villages and the vast open sea!

The sweater is knitted from the top down.

First, the upper part of the back is worked back and forth, while the shoulder slopes are shaped with short rows for an ideal fit.

The shoulders are then knitted separately with short rows on a circular needle before being joined on one needle for the front. The front and back are joined in the round to form the body, which is then knitted in the round on a circular needle.

The sleeves are knitted from picked-up stitches around the armholes and shaped with short rows. They are worked in the round on a circular needle and with double-pointed needles or using the Magic Loop technique. The neckband is knitted last from picked-up stitches, folded double, and knitted down on the inside.

The Marseille Sweater is knitted with stripes, the placement of which is described in the pattern.

Allow 25 cm of ease compared to your chest measurement when choosing the size—the sweater has an oversized fit.

Size Guide

The Marseille Sweater should have approximately 25 cm of positive ease in relation to your bust circumference. The fit is oversized. Sizes XS (S) M (L) XL (2XL) 3XL (4XL) 5XL fit a body bust circumference of 80–85 (85–90) 90–95 (95–100) 100–110 (110–120) 120–130 (130–140) 140–150 cm. The finished sweater measurements are shown on the front. Measure yourself before you start knitting to determine the size that suits you best. If your bust circumference (or the widest part of your body) measures 90 cm, you should choose size S. A size S sweater has a bust circumference of 115 cm and would therefore have 25 cm of positive ease in this case.
