Bio Balance - that's the banal thing between the finest cotton and the best wool: the best of both worlds!
So you can use Bio Balance from BC Garn for almost all projects and you'll always be just right. It's not too thick and not too thin, the wool makes it super fluffy and light, the cotton is soft and cooling. Bio Balance is discreetly matt and has the most beautiful natural colors - simply perfect.
The cotton in Bio Balance is particularly soft, which makes the yarn particularly cuddly. The wool comes from mulesing-free farms in South America. The yarn is GOTS certified and produced particularly gently, sustainably and of course organic!

What can you combine Bio Balance with?
Bio Balance has a sister yarn, the big sister Big Bio Balance is twice as thick and has the same color palette. This means you can combine both yarns wonderfully and make knitted pieces that match each other.
Of course, you can also give Bio Balance more fluffiness by using a mohair yarn as a thread. the beautiful Silky Kid from Kremke Soul Wool, the colors harmonize perfectly.
But Bio Balance is often knitted in pure form. It has a sophisticated composition, it doesn't need any other yarns and stands on its own. The idea is also to reduce it to one good yarn. Best wearing properties for warmer temperatures, light clothing that feels great and looks great!
What is the composition of Bio Balance?
Bio Balance GOTS by BC Garn is made of 55% new wool and 45% cotton and is therefore great for wearing under a jacket or indoors in spring and summer as well as in winter and autumn. A real all-rounder! The composition is super natural, with no artificial additives, a real organic yarn. GOTS certified leaves nothing to be desired.

How does Bio Balance by BC Garn feel?
Bio Balance is simply super popular, of course because of its great properties and also because of the great colors, but mainly because it just feels good! You will love it. The handle is super light and airy and at the same time beautifully soft without flowing too much. It simply combines the best properties and is not as heavy as cotton yarns or as thick as wool. Bio Balance is a clever mix of both worlds, it keeps you warm - but not too warm, it is light and cooling - but not too thin.

Bio Balance has super harmonious colors and they really all match each other, so you can combine them perfectly. One special thing about Bio Balance's colors is their matte finish. The yarn is matte and soft, so the colors are super natural. The colors also have a beautifully subtle melange effect, as the color is absorbed differently by wool and cotton. This effect is really super light and restrained, but creates a great depth of color and gives smooth knitted pieces an interesting stitch pattern and structured pattern pieces a beautiful depth. Simply enchanting!
What can you knit from it?
We have many knitted items in our Models and Sets category with Bio Balance from BC Garn. You can use it as an all-round yarn for thin sweaters and cardigans, but of course you can also knit shawls and scarves. Bio Balance is even great for baby clothes. I like to knit shirts with it the most because it feels great directly on the skin.
How is the yarn washed?
We have had good experiences with Bio Balance in terms of machine washability. The yarn is washable at 30°C, but only if your machine also has a wool program. And of course you must use a wool detergent and under no circumstances should you use fabric softener, that's very important!
Otherwise, we would recommend hand washing, which is gentler and doesn't require as much work. You simply create a water bath in the sink with a wool detergent and put the knitted item in there. Then rinse it. It is particularly good to spin the knitted item in the machine, because you often cause unwanted damage when wringing it out.
Even when hand washing, a maximum temperature of 30°C should not be exceeded and a good wool detergent is also mandatory here.
Of course, the embroidery piece must not be put in the dryer. We always recommend drying it lying down, not in direct sunlight, but better indoors or in the shade.
If you follow these simple rules, the yarn will last a long time without any problems.
How is Bio Balance different from Big Bio Balance?
As the name suggests, Big Bio Balance is simply big, i.e. thicker. Bio Balance is about half as thick as its big sister and has a running length of 225m for 50g, while the running length of Big Bio Balance is 280m in a 100g skein. This is very practical, so you don't have to go without your favorite Bio Balance composition in winter. And of course you can also use Big Bio Balance for spring clothes if you want something a little thicker and perhaps knit up quicker.
What needle size do you need?
You shouldn't knit Bio Balance too tightly. The needle size is very individual, depending on your own knitting strength. We recommend choosing a needle size of around 3 mm to 4 mm. It's best to knit a gauge sample to find the perfect thickness for you! The most beautiful pieces are supple ones, because the yarn is so light, it doesn't sag and stays in shape.
